Hello and welcome to Lifting Up Treehouse. Here you will discover how I manage my large family lifestyle in a small home while on a tight budget, living minimally, my adventures in homeschooling (the Treeschool category), product reviews, and the occasional glimpse of “a day in the life” of our family.

The person behind Lifting Up Treehouse:

My name is Roxanne Parks, I’m in my late 20’s. My husband and I were both cradle Catholics but reverted in 2008/2009 when we received the sacrament of Holy Matrimony at the young ages of 19 and 23. One things that is nice about being married so young is we get to grow up together. As of now, we have five wild but amazing blessings (&counting):

Bradley aka Beaver: 8 years old

Genevieve aka Raccoon: 6 years old

Kateri aka Hedgehog: 5 years old

Avila aka Deer: 3 years old

Ignatius aka Fox: 1 years old

We currently live in a modest tomehome in Northern Virginia and we are a homeschooling family. Living on a blue collar’s pay in a two income world can be very challenging and that is why I strive to making frugal a bit more fruitful. I’m generally creative, have strong passions for pregnancy/birth, and big on DIY projects. I am always trying to find ways to make the best in a small space for my big lifestyle. We attempt to live more intentionally and minimally. I believe we are called to do everything in life for one reason: the greater glory of God. This is a really hard thing for me because I am, too often, easily distracted with the chaos of life. I hope to share with you a glimpse of my life in trying to always find the joy/ blessings in everything, even the suffering.

Lifting Up Treehouse:

I first started blogging a few years ago as a digital scrapbook/ journal outlet, but there was no consistency. I had always dreamed about having a “real blog” but was always too intimidated. In the beginning of 2017, I decided to rebrand Lifting Up Treehouse. The meaning behind the name: “Lifting Up” = we are called to encourage each other as a family to reach sanctification and “Treehouse” = my home/ domestic church.

What is Treeschool:

We are a home educating family and Treeschool is what I call our school. In the Treeschool category, you will discover the many adventures I have in homeschooling my wild blessings. This was a decision my husband and I made before even getting pregnant with our first baby. My main goal in home educating my children is for them to know, love, and serve the Lord along with learning the beautiful teachings of the Catholic Church. Homeschooling is a major part of our lives. For us, it is a way of life. We have a heavy influence of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy within our educational methods but overall I am eclectic. Homeschooling is tricky to do with a bunch of little wild ones, especially when limited on space, but at the end of the day it is very rewarding and I’m blessed to be able to.
