I am in the last month of my pregnancy and finally starting to nest for the newest addition to come. Preparing for baby number 6 is soo much different than what it was like with the first. When I had my first baby, I clung to all those baby registries “must have list”. I believed that you really needed EVERYTHING that was listed to only figure out… umm, I guess we didn’t need this or that. Since our family has been embracing living more minimally, I have been more conscious of what I need for this baby. Here is my have list.

Clothing

This is for the newborn size only. My babies usually are only in newborn size for 2-4 weeks depending on birth size and how fast they grow. I sometimes find it hard to find warm jumpsuits in the newborn size for when we go out with the baby so I will use fleece sleepers with a long sleeve onesie underneath when going out and about during the colder months.

Baby Gear

If space is an issue, which is for us, you can kill two birds with one stone and invest in a 2n1 swing/bouncer combo like this or this. Because we don’t have a nursery and we cosleep, I don’t use a crib. Instead, I use a pack n play that is set up in our boys’ room for times when I do need to put the baby down. For tandem strollers, we have really liked this Graco’s Ready2Go Double stroller. We already have a car seat and stroller but we are considering getting a jogger stroller since my husband and I both hope to spend more time outdoors and active.

feed

Feeding

A breastfeeding/ feeding pillow is definitely a must have regardless if you breastfeed or bottle feed. I have always used the original Boppy but recently just bought this neat adjustable nursing pillow from Infantino and can’t wait to try it out. I do have a hospital grade electric Medela breast pump that was generously gifted to me but personally if I need to pump I like a manual one like this. I don’t usually pump unless I feel like I am on the verge of a clogged duct.
I have only breastfed which is why I only have things pertaining to those who intend to breastfeed. I am unknowledgeable when it comes to bottle feeding, therefore, do not feel I am able to recommend what the best/ must haves are for that. If you have any favorite items for bottle feeding please share in the comments.

Diapering

We are a mainly cloth diapering family. I’ve cloth diapered since day one of becoming a mommy over nine years ago. I do, however, use disposables occasionally, especially when they are newborns. I switch to full cloth once they are around 3-4 weeks old. I will usually use disposable wipes when out and cloth wipes at home. When using cloth wipes, I like using the cheap baby washcloths like Gerber or Luvables brand for babies’ bottoms.

bath

Bath Time, Care, & First Aid

  • Bathtub/ mat – Blooming Bath mat has been one of my absolute favorite baby items!
  • Shampoo/ wash
  • nail clippers
  • thermometer
  • nasal aspirator – I personally like the medical grade ones like the kind they use in a hospital. This one is the kind I get and like to use it even for the bigger kids if needed. The NoseFrida is another great option.

We’ve been using the Blooming Bath flower since our second baby and LOVE IT!! I personally feel its more comfortable to bath the babies in something like this in a sink until they are able to sit up on their own. Also its a lot easier to store than a bulky baby bath tub. I know that baby towels and baby washcloths are usually on “must have for baby” checklist but I don’t think you really need to spend extra money on baby specific towels. I got rid of all our baby towels and washcloths with our last one and I don’t miss them one bit. I use normal towels and our normal washcloths when bathing baby.
